The Kibera Jewelry Story

A small businessman in the Kibera, Kenya slum makes jewelry and other ornaments from animal bones discarded by restaurants. These ornaments are then sold in other areas around the world to create jobs and support a school in Kibera.

Kibera women is a non-profit organisation based in Nairobi that aims to empower women by involving them in the making of handicraft products (mainly Kenyan jewellery) and promote their work so that they are able to be independent economically and socially.

Over the past months, 20 women have joined organisation and have been making eye-catching jewellery, that are totally worth investing in, if you want to feel special or you want to offer a special gift to someone!
